Select by Area

Overview

This tool allows a user to select multiple features on the map and action additional tools and information. 

REQUIREMENTS

The Area Select tool needs to be assigned to a Profile as a Tool via the Admin Panel. 

Admin>>Profile>>CHOOSE PROFILE >> Tools and enable Area Select >> SAVE.


USEAGE

Make sure the layer you want to investigate is toggled on, and visible on the map. 

In the layers panel, hover over the layer and click on the layer settings cog.
 

In the options that popup, click on Select Features. 

Click on the map and drag a rectangle over the features you want to query, let go of your mouse button to perform the selection.

Selected feature will be highlighted blue on the map with a red rectangle displaying the area you selected. Upon selection the map will automatically be enabled into PAN mode, to run the Select by Area tool again, click on the SELECT button and drag another rectangle over features on the map. 


Once features are select you can access to a range of Actions. Presently these are
  1. Identify Features - a list of features that have been selected on the map 
  2. Multi-select tools - accesses a wider range of geoprocessing tools such as Filter, Download as CSV, merge features, constraints checker and create buffer
  3. Filter on Selection - displays only the select features on the map. 
  4. Download as CSV
  5. Data Extract - allowing you to query the selected features against other layers
  6. Constraints Checker
As you move between different Actions, the selected features are retained on the map until the Area Select Panel is closed.

To clear a filter applied to a layer:

When the Area Select panel is still open, click on Remove selection filter




When the Area Select panel has been closed, find the layer and click on the Blue Filter icon, or click on the layer setting cog and click
