Workspaces

Workspaces

Overview

Workspaces allow you to save a location and set of layers. They are designed so you can focus the map down to just the layers you're interested.

Workspaces work much like Bookmarks with a few differences:
  1. When a Workspace is created it is shared across an organisation. (they can also be set as private Workspaces)
  2. Workspaces hide all layers except for the ones selected for the Workspace

Why use Workspaces?

You might like to use Workspaces when:
  1. You want to share a set of layers from your department to the rest of the organisation. e.g. the Planning team sharing a Local Plan.
  2. Your organisation has big projects or schemes that need many layers switched on, thus making it convenient for others to call up those layers.

Creating a Workspace

To create a Workspace:
  1. Switch on all the layers you want to include in the Workspace
  2. Navigate the map to the location you want the Workspace to start
  3. Right click the map and go to Workspaces then Create
  4. Enter a title and description
  5. Choose from the options available (detailed below)
  6. Click Save

Workspace Options

Hide Inactive Layers

With this option disabled (default), the Workspace will include all other layers within Collections used in the Workspace. These other layers will be switched off, but allows users of the Workspace to switch them on and off.

As you can see from the screenshot below, even though the Workspace only includes 4 layers, the other layers in the Collections are also visible.

With this option enabled, the Workspace will only include layers that are switched on.

As you can see from the screenshot below, even though each Collection has 3 layers each, only the enabled ones are shown.

Private

With this option disabled (default), the Workspace will be visible to every user within your organisation.

With this option enabled, the Workspace will only be visible to you.
Notes
