Uploading GIS Files

Overview

File upload allows you to input ESRI Shapefile or Mapinfo Tab files into your XMAP database. 

Only an administrator can complete this action.


How to upload files

To upload your ESRI Shapefile or Mapinfo Tab  files:

  1. Open XMAP in your browser and log in as administrator.
  2. Access the admin panel by clicking on the Cog icon, situated in the top-right of the XMAP window.
  3. Click the option 'Data' from the left-hand menu.
  4. Select 'File Upload' from the left-hand menu. This option will be located underneath the 'Data' option.
  5. Set the database and schema where you want to upload the data to. 
  6. Drag and drop your file into the XMAP browser window and press 'Upload'. This will upload your data to your XMAP account's database.

FAQ:

Q.  Can I set the table name of the data being uploaded?
A. The only way to set the table name is by renaming the file being uploaded to the name you want it to appear in the database. Note, that the database table name can be different to the layer name as displayed in XMAP.
