Overview
The routing tool within XMAP has been designed to allow users to route from a start location, optional via locations, and an end location. Routing has been designed around setting location by a click on the map, full/part address search or a UPRN. The route shown is the quickest and shortest route.
Limitations
Routing is currently set for vehicles, and not walking or cycling. As such, all routes follow roads (inc. Ferry routes) and not paths, footways or cycle paths. Future releases will extend functionality giving users the ability to set various routing options.
Method
- In XMAP go to TOOLS >> Routing.
- Within the Routing panel, you can set a start location by either clicking on the map at your chosen start position, or doing an address/postcode search or supplying a UPRN.
- Add in a second, third.... locations using the same method as above.
Once all locations are set click CALCULATE ROUTE.
You can update the route at any time by updating the location with an address/postcode or uprn search, alternatively you can drag the number marker on the map to a new location. Once you've made changes you can click CALCULATE ROUTE again.
