Quick Search on Layers

Quick Search on Layers

Overview

Quick Search allows layers to be set to appear in the search bar within XMAP. In addition to searching addresses or places, for enabled layers, users can query the layer for objects.

This is especially useful if your organisation uses private/internal reference numbers for objects.

Enabling Quick Search (Admin Only)

Administrators can enable Quick Search by navigating to the Admin Panel -> Data -> Layers.

From here, select a layer and on the right hand side under Layer Options, click the 'Quick Search' checkbox.

This will open a dialog where you can select:
Column - the column to search on
Filter - the filter type (contains is recommended for the easiest search experience)
Turn layer on - this will force the layer to be switched on when selecting objects

In XMAP, click the drop down arrow to the right hand side of the search bar. Any available layers will appear here, with their title, (e.g Planning Applications).

Simply select the layer and type into the box to find objects. As you type, the search will narrow the options down.

Select an object to move to that location.

Troubleshooting

I've updated the quick search option for a layer, but it's not changed.

Quick Search uses a browser feature called LocalStorage to remember its current settings and may not always pick up changes made on the current setting. If the new settings don't seem to be working, try toggling the search type to force an update.

I've enabled layer toggling, but the layer isn't switching on.

Check that you don't have multiple versions of the same layer in your profile. It may be the case that the layer is being switched on in a different collection.
